Parents Meeting: parents of children attending at Oakland International High School are invited to meet with the teachers every first Wed. evening of the month, starting in October 1st. This year the discussion will focus in the beginning on educating parents about the school (how they grade, what the kids are doing, what the report cards mean, what they need to graduate). Oakland International High School still has spots open for enrollment, if you know of any immigrant families with high school aged kids.

Announcements for 9-14-08
Volunteers needed: We are looking for a few volunteers to help move some heavy furniture into our new office on the 3rd floor. Please meet outside the sanctuary after the main service.
Infant / Child car seats: If you have a child / infant car seat that you are no longer using, and would like to donate, please give them to Ko Victor Wong.
OUSD monthly parent outreach/education meetings: Oakland Unified School District is planning on holding these monthly, (every 3rd Tuesday of each month), to go over/make introductions to important facets of the U.S. education system/the OUSD, and to discuss timely topics (such as the school options process, after school programs, etc.) and answer questions that parents may have. The idea is to help parents be more involved in their children's education despite linguistic and cultural differences that may be challenging.

Shoreline Stroll (5K Walk & Church Picnic): You are invited to help raise fund for the Seafarers Ministry of the Golden Gate on Sept 20 (Sat) to be held at the International Maritime Center in the Port of Oakland. The proceeds will go towards the Seafarers Ministry budget which will in turn use for helping many seafarers that visit the Center each year.
ABWM Worship Service: American Baptist Women’s Ministries of the West is meeting at OFBC on Sept 27th (Sat) at 10 – 11 am. Rev. Zauya Lahpai will be giving the sermon. We will participate in the preparation of meals and in providing music during the service.
