OUSD monthly parent outreach/education meetings: Oakland Unified School District is planning on holding these monthly, (every 3rd Tuesday of each month), to go over/make introductions to important facets of the U.S. education system/the OUSD, and to discuss timely topics (such as the school options process, after school programs, etc.) and answer questions that parents may have. The idea is to help parents be more involved in their children's education despite linguistic and cultural differences that may be challenging.

Come and Celebrate "Fathers' Day" with Us

Let us come together and honor our fathers on this Fathers' Day, Sunday at OBMBC. Come and share with us your wonderful memories of your father. Our Women Fellowship (Ezra Fellowship) will lead us in our worship service and will honor our fathers. So please bring your Dad if he can be with you this Sunday.
We have gifts and food prepared for our celebration of Fathers' Day right after the service. There will be surprising fun games that your father and you can play together. Everyone will be enjoy playing games and sports in our Gym after the service. So bring your comfortable cloth and shoes for the fun.

Burma Cyclone Relief and Re-life Fund Raising!

This weekend Saturday May 24th at New Life Church in Fremont, from 3 PM to 8 PM, there will be fund raising event for the cyclone victims of Burma. Our church, OBMBC sponsored this event for the project called "Relief & Re-Life" to help the cyclone Nargis victims in Myanmar (Burma).
You are welcome to come and enjoy the Burmese traditional foods and Musical concert as you buy and donate. Your dollars will proceed directly to the victims.

Meanwhile, OBMBC is committed match your donations dollars up to $10,000 during the month of May 2008. Please don't forget to give additional donations towards matching fund also.

Special Prayer Service for Cyclone Victims in Myanmar

Since last weekend, the cyclone has devastated the land of Myanmar, our minds are filled with concern, worry, and sympathy to those who are affected by it. So let's come together in prayer this Saturday (May 10th 2008) evening at 6:00 PM in our OBMBC sanctuary. We will have a special prayer service for Burma and the cyclone disaster victims.
Please come and share your prayer requests, news, concerns, and compassion with us. Please invite your family members and neighbors who wants to offer the help and prayer.
Special donation are collecting now for the victims of cyclone in Burma, if anyone wants to give individually. We also will have a special offering time for the need in Burma during our worship service this Sunday (May 11th) . Please spread the news to those who wants to help out people of Burma.
May God grant us peace in time like this.

Congratulations to Ko Nyunt Win and Ma Myint Aung! They are blessed with a newborn son, David Aung Win, on 5-1-08 (Thurs) at 3:40 AM. The baby weighs almost 9 lb. Both mother and son are doing well. Please pray for this family and let's rejoice with them.
Summer School ’08 and Change of School in Fall: Those parents who wish to let their children attend Summer School, and those parents who wish to let their children attend a school closer to home, please meet in the Board Room this Sunday (5-4-08) after the service. Langan will be here to help fill the forms.
Dance Room / Kitchen / Shower upgrades: We are making great progress with the renovation of several building projects. We still need volunteers to help out. Please contact Ko Jerry Hui, and Ko Franky Kaw.
Recording Studio Project: After extensive research by the special project committee, and careful evaluation at the Council meeting, it was decided that we move forward with the construction of this project. Total expense is estimated at $20,000 which includes construction materials, studio electronic equipment, instruments, and miscellaneous accessories. We trust that the recording studio will serve as a useful means to extend our ministry to the outside world.
Special account has been set up for those who wish to make donations towards this fund. Volunteers are also needed during the construction period. Please see Ko Jerry and Ko Franky for detail.
Church Cleaning Day: We need many volunteers to help with the cleaning of our church to get ready for the various projects: new office upstairs on the 3rd. level, and the construction of the new recording studio.

Saya Bill George: (Ryan's Uncle) was admitted to the Washington Hospital ICU in Fremont on 3/31/08 (Mon) for unstable blood pressure levels. Update: A successful 4 by-pass was done to his heart on 4-10-08 (Thurs) and he is recovering in the ICU. Please continue to pray for him and for the family members.
Uncle Charlie Yang was admitted to the Seton Hospital ICU in Daly City. He is in coma and the condition is getting worse. Please pray for him and his family.

Deceased: Ko Kip Lian’s uncle passed away last week in Burma. Please pray for the surviving family members (Wife and Children).

Saya George Dur (Ryan's Uncle) was admitted to the Washington Hospital ICU in Fremont on 3/31/08 (Mon) for unstable blood pressure levels. He was later moved to Room 21/ 5th floor. He is in stable condition right now. Please pray for him for quick recovery.

Sunrise Service and Easter Combine Worship

Easter Sun Rise Service: On March 23rd (Sun), we will have a sunrise service at the Middle Harbor Shoreline Park in Oakland which is about 10 minutes away from church. Meet at the park at 6:30 am. If you need direction please call (510) 282-5107.
Joint Easter Breakfast and Service: On March 23rd (Sunday), 9:15 am, there will be a breakfast. OBMBC will take care of the breakfast. We will then have a joint Easter Worship Service with OFBC at 11:00 am. Pastor Nancy Smith will lead the service. There will be no OBMBC service at 1:00 pm that day.
